For safety and comfort, weight limit for trail ride is 250 lbs / 113 Kgs

I'm a single rider; it says I need a minimum of 2 to book?

Single adult riders will have to call our office to get added onto an existing ride!

What to Wear

Long pants and closed-toe shoes are required. We recommend lightweight longsleeve shirts for sun protection

I broke my ankle while hiking last weekend and EMS was able to get a lovely mule named Lady from Rio Grande Stables to give me a ride out. Lady was lovely and I'm not sure I would have gotten out of the gorge without her. Incredibly smooth ride, more comfortable than the ambulance ride! I'm forever indebted to Lady and the Rio Grande Stables. I can't wait to return for a ride when my ankle is better. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

A great experience all around! The horses are obviously well trained and cared for. Evo is a wonderful wrangler and guide. His jokes aren’t bad either! I’m very comfortable around horses but don’t have a lot of consistent riding experience. The two hour sunset ride was at a good pace for any skill level, beautiful ,and now ingrained in memory forever I can’t wait to come back next season.

We had a great evening trail ride with Javier! Lady and Duncan, the mule and horse my friend and I rode, were sweet as can be. The landscape was beautiful and it was a great end to our trip. Would definitely recommend it again!

Shelby was an awesome guide. We did an evening ride (which ended up being private which was nice) with Shelby for our anniversary. She was very knowledgable about horses and the area. We aren't experienced riders and it was my husband's first ride ever- and we felt very comfortable and safe with our guide. Would highly recommend this experience in the area.

This is my first time going on a horse back ride. It was a first time for my husband too. Right from the beginning our wrangler Zoey made sure we were comfortable and at ease. She is very knowledgeable and was very patient in explaining about our ride and the horses. It was a 2 hour ride and oh boy we had such a great time. We laughed so much and had fun throughout our ride. Rio Grande stables, Taos, NM you guys rock! Keep up the good work!
