Description

Saunter through the piney & flowery foothills of Guadalupe Mountain, up to the well-loved overlook of the Las Vistas de Questa trail. Rio Grande del Norte National Monument lays to the North and the quiet town of Questa sprawls beneath the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the East. This is a very relaxing ride and well-suited for all experiences.

The VDQ trailhead is just past Questa, about a 15-minute drive. Here you'll mount up and hit the trail!

Saunter through the ponderosa pine foothills of Guadalupe Mountain, windng up toward the well-loved overlook of Las Vistas de Questa.   Here we stop to take in the  stunning view of the Sangre De cristo range.  This is a gentle ride and well-suited for all experiences.

Things to know

MEETING POINT

Meet your wrangler @ Rio Grande Stables HQ @ 4:00pm for check-in, and then follow your wrangler to the trailhead....about a 10 minute drive

Weight Limit

250 Lbs. This is for safety & comfort of both animal & rider

Age

Minimum age of 6: 6yr olds will be led by a wrangler

What to Wear

Long pants & closed toed shoes. You will brush up against the occasional tree. A rain jacket in case it rains -- rainstorms are most common during the afternoon..

What to Bring

Water! Each rider needs to bring their OWN water. Bottled is best & easiest to handle while on the horse

Had an awesome experience riding with Rio Grande Stables! Went on the 2 hour ride with Shelby, who was very knowledgeable about the area and the horses. Very pretty ride with great views. You can tell the horses are taken care of very well and very well trained. Highly recommend!…

We had a great time with our wrangler. Nobody in our family knew how to ride and this was a really fun intro to horseback riding and experiencing the high desert. Would definitely recommend this place.
